This course will focus on establishing a solid foundation for the bassist seeking to develop the ability to groove. Our lessons will cover what I believe are the absolute essentials for this purpose, and will encompass technique, fingerboard familiarity, basic theory, ear training and the fundamentals of navigating your way through a rhythm chart.
Recommended for the beginning groove player and/or self-taught bassist seeking to “fill in the gaps” in overall musicianship in preparation for the 60-Lesson Groove Course Levels 2 and 3.
I am a firm advocate of learning by focusing on one or several specific elements or concepts, then drilling & reinforcing them repetitively until they are completely assimilated. Most everything we cover will be building upon the previously-discussed topics or lessons, so it will be hugely beneficial for you to reinforce each lesson in a deliberate and repetitive manner each day. Your progress and overall understanding will be significantly enhanced if you can commit to making that effort.
The "groove-relevance" of some of the material we will be covering might not be readily apparent upon first glance, but I assure you that it is all not only relevant, but essential. Rest assured that NONE of it is information solely for academic purposes!
I'm thrilled you're with me, and hope you find this course helpful for your groove endeavors!
Blessings-
Norm Stockton
